Win2K--Yeeeech.... If it is anything like the Kerberos implementation, the
authentication (password recognition) goes on in the clear, but an extension
prevents the authentication process from granting access to any win2k resources
unless the authentication is done by a Win2K server.
And now, Microsoft seems in a mood to attempt to use the Digital Millenium
Copyright Act to prevent reverse engineering of their strategy of embrace,
extend, extinguish -- Embrace the standard, extend it to proprietary, and
extinguish the competition. So the wait for Samba to catch up may be a little
longer than usual. -=I am NOT up to date on Samba as I no longer use it (no
windows targets out there, any more) but I would be unsurprised to find this
the case.=- Does anyone have Samba talking to win2K boxes?
