To paraphrase: nothin condemns a person to ignorance more than
contempt prior to investigation. To place that idea into this
situation, I've found that when faced with system problems it's
much better if I suspect my own doings, the hardware (and it's
config) I'm using, and then lastly, the OS. Those that have the most
problems always seem to approach them in the reverse of that order,
IMNSHO.
Your hardware, particularly your HDD has been brought up in
this thread. Just as important (prob'ly more so) is what motherboard
you're using and it's bios and the configuration of both, not to
mention all the other components that make up your system.
As anecdotal proof that the last thing you should be accusing as
the cause of your problem is the OS... consider how many people are
_not_ having, or even able to reproduce the problem, and are
successfully using Mdk 7.1 ??
From what I've read on this thread, the user (attitude) and the
hardware seem to be the most likely source(s) of the problem. Is
this a 'Win' or 'ready made' system ?
