here's an update
I suspect MySQL was involved. I found it today with a zombie that seems to
screw with the networking. FTP access was dead and you couldn't kill MySQL
- zombies suck - it was still serving web pages like a bat out of hell and
ssh was just fine. I rebooted cleanly and it's back to normal now. I was
running the version of MySQL that shipped with mandrake 7.0. I have upgrade
to the newest version so hopefully it wont happen again.
anybody else seen something like this?
thanks
