Hello List,
I am running LM7.1 with the 2.2.17-0.23mdk kernel. I cannot get
floppies or cdroms to mount and open from the icons on the desktop. I
have checked the archives, the supermount readme and the
Mandrakeuser.org notes but am obviously missing something.
When I recompiled the kernel I enabled supermount, but I note there is a
script in /etc/rc.d/init.d/mandrake_everytime which disables supermount
on boot (I wonder why this is built in - does Mandrake want to use
supermount or not?). If I disable this script, run /usr/sbin/supermount
-i enable and reboot I am still unable to mount from the desktop and get
a blank screen for floppies and cdroms and a warning unable to find
/dev/hda5 etc for my windows partitions. I have tried the fstab entries
from the readme (--,gid=51,conv=binary for floppies and
ro,fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/cdrom,--,conv=binary for cdroms) and they work
once before they are corrupted next boot.
Can anyone tell me what to do to be able to mount and open floppies and
cdroms from the desktop icons, please? Supermount or other fstab
entries would be appreciated. Copies of the various fsab entries I have
tried can be provided if needed. Thank you.
