Wish that were true in all cases, got a p3/600 setting right behind me that
required me to append the memory in Lilo. Seems it's more bios related since
the kernel version is 2.2.15

Try typing "free" (no quotes)in a term window the first line first # refers
to system ram if it doesn't say 320,000 or more as the first # then you must
append it in lilo.conf regardless of the kernel version
