I run a Belkin 4 Port switch with a Win2K, FreeBSD, RH 6.2 and NTWKST.
Works great, except for the wireless Logitech mouse. The double click
action on the side button fails when I plug it into the switch. Not a
limitation of any of the OS's or the switch, just the mouse.

Nah, you shouldn't even have to power down... the only time you NEED to
have
anything attached is during bootup. I plug and unplug my much too often and
it hasn't hurt anything (yet) so I too finally got a switch.

I didn't have to do anything to mine to add my switch.

The box said,
"Requires Windows 3.x or better",
so I got Linux.
