Attempted to install from a freshly made CD-ROM (ISO image) but all attempts
fail in the following sequence:

- Create a boot disk:
I place a freshly formatted (DOS/FAT 1.44MB in A Drive) diskette in the drive
and ask it to create the boot disk. It doesn't appear to even access the
floppy drive (no access light indication) and immediately results in the
message "An error occurred. mkbootdisk failed." I try the other options for
creating the boot disk that the installation program tries but they too
result in the same problem.

I then go to the next step.

- Install boot loader:
As soon as this sequence starts the system responds with the message "An
error occurred. Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference." I
briefly see a LILO type message fly past in the bottom 'help area' of the
installation screens but it is so quick that I can't actually read it.

The installation then thinks everything is fine and carries on to where it
ejects the CD-ROM and then reboots which results in the following message
"Loading Linux. Boot sector signature not found."

Mounting the disk in BeOS I can see that the /boot directory looks like this:

$ cd boot
$ ls -alg

My image file:
-rw-------   1 baron    users    680378368 Oct 30 18:40 Mandrake72-inst.iso

I have downloaded and burned two CD-ROMs (from different ftp sites) now of
the ISO image and neither have worked. This image came from:

biglinux.tccw.wku.edu

Please note that I have installed numerous Linux systems on this machine
included 7.1 in exactly the same manner and this is the first time I have
seen this type of problem.

I do not wish to download any more 680MB files if I can help it :-)

System configuration is as follows:

Pentium II 266MHz with 128MB PC100 SDRAM
P6SBA Motherboard

Drives:
1) 20GB EIDE Primary Master (BeOS 5.03)
2) 6.8GB EIDE Primary Slave (Where I installed LM 7.2)
3) 1.6GB EIDE Secondary Master (Win98)
4) ATAPI 32X CD-ROM Secondary Slave

Any ideas on what to try next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.  Cheers.
