Ok here's how it works. You'll need the .config file from the Mandrake install you have. I forget offhand what dir it is in but I belevie it is /usr/src/linux. Copy that file to the new source tree and the type make oldconfig. The new kernel will only prompt you for items tht are new to the kernel in regard sto rentries in the .config file. I compiled many a kernel on my redhat 6.0 box this way. The kernel might not have been "optimized" but it worked. :) *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 11/20/2000 at 12:49 AM [EMAIL PROTECTED] scribbled: >Hello everybody: > > I would like to compile a new kernel for the computer I use.
