Hello,
I asked this several months ago. And since now I am putting hands
to work on changing the kernel to run MOSIX in a couple of computers, I
would like to make sure I understood.
I run Linux-Mandrake 7.2 with kernel 2.2.17 and would like to
upgrade it to 2.2.18. I have /usr/src/linux-2.2.17/arch/i386/defconfig
file. I guess its name stands for "default configuration". Then I should
copy such file to the new kernel tree, namely to
/usr/src/linux-2.2.18/arch/i386/defconfig. The following step would be to
make oldconfig
to let the kernel have the old kernel configuration options set. Then
I should do
Make xconfig
to adjust the new kernel options if any. The next steps would be just as
described in the kernel HOWTO.
Thanks for reading this e-mail.
Fabian.
