I gave it a try to update a number of packages after just having installed
7.2 last week. It seemingly got all the new packages OK, but couldn't update
them. The first set of upgrade RPMs (for Apache) failed on a missing 'mm'
dependency. Despite having done an 'everything' hard drive install, that
package was not installed. I installed it, and then was able to upgrade
Apache.

I've installed a few upgrades since then, but have installed those manually.

I couldn't tell for sure, but shouldn't MandrakeUpdate be able to go get the
intervening or dependent RPMs if they aren't found to be installed? I mean,
everyone seems to rave about Debian and it's 'apt-get' feature.
