NO, you don't need to do an 'upgrade' install. goto the CD-writing HOWTO
(www.linuxdoc.org). It tells you everything you need to know.
In essence, you need find out if the CDRW is scsi or atapi, then make sure
scsi support, and ide-scsi emulation if you have atapi drive, is compiled
in your kernel or as a module (if you are using the LM 7.2 default kernel
this is compiled as a module), and finally install the appropriate modules
and edit the modules.conf file correctly.
