I am working on compiling the 2.4.1 source. The director /usr/src is root owner and root group, and only root has write access to this directory. I am thinking about changing the group to something like "kernel" (a new group I would define) and giving group full access, and then putting my regular user account into that group, so I can compile the kernel without becoming root. Can anyone see a downside to that? Neal
