I've got Mandrake 7.2 and am having absolutely no problems playing music
CDs.

Admittedly, I've got automount on, so I dont know if that makes a
difference. You'd have to mount the CDRom if you havent got automount.

I just use CD Player (kscd 1.3.0) that I find in the KDE app menu. GRip
also plays CDs.
