Thanks for your response.  I noticed that bit about the /root/tmp as well
but since my box is somewhat exposed to the net I don't want to do the chmod
777.  I'll just hope that someone else out there can help us out.  I imagine
it will be a matter of changing where the samba temp directory points but I
don't know where/what that setting is since I've not seen it before.  That
was one of the joys of Mandrake; I just plugged it in and it worked (in
7.2).  It's still my favorite distro though and you sorta have to expect a
few things to go wrong on major point releases.
