I spoke too soon. I can't get the new kernel 2.4.4 to recognize my
nic. At boot it tells me that it can't load agpart or the root fs. Later
it says that modprobe with module 3c589_cs fails.
It boots, but with no support for the network.
I've tried rebuilding the kernel with:
1) make oldconfig && make dep && make clean && make bzImage && make install
&& make modules && make modulues_install.
2) cp'd the bzImage and System.map to /boot
3) Symbolically linked them to vmlinuz and /boot/System.map
4) Used the Boot Config to do the lilo reconfiguration.
5) Verified the new /etc/lilo.conf was correct.
Rebooted and got the above error messages. It supports the trackpoint, but
not the network. Not what I would call a good deal :-{
