Actually lynx isn't bad for what it is designed for.
For people who are blind or otherwise disabled, lynx is
super. It works with audio output where browsers like links
or netscape read line by line, so if a page has three
columns, the blind user gets the first line of all three
columns read to them, then the second line of all three
columns. Lynx doesn't do that.
Sighted users also like that they don't have to mess with
graphics, flash, java banner ads, etc.
If all you are looking for is information then you can't top
lynx for speed and usability.
Think about it this way, why do you care to read all those
ads and graphics just to download a file. How many times
have you sat through a flash animation or downloaded a huge
graphic just to see the option, "Click here to Enter."

Sometimes you feel like a graphic, sometimes you don't.
