Well,

The first time I was updating, I actually read all the info for each
package, and it had the same "do not use mandrakeupdate to update this"
warning...

That was on 7.2, dunno about 8, but I am assuming it would be the same???

Alsa should not be upgraded via MandrakeUpdate, either??

(No, I haven't done that, and I don't think there's an update available
right now, but I found that to be curious....)
