I just finished installing Mandrake 8.0 a new WD 200bb Caviar drive.
After rebooting the first time, the console came up with this error
message:

hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady Seek Complete Error}
hda: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC }

The drive is brand new, but the motherboard has been used for a couple of
months (it's an ABit KT7-RAID with the Via KT133 chipset). With the
previous harddrive (also a WD Caviar) I occasionally got this message, but
the machine never gave me any problems. Now that I'm turning it into a
webserver I'm a little concerned.

Is this something is likely to go away with a kernel upgrade (I'm using
the stock 2.4.3-20 kernel, but plan to upgrade it to the latest soon), or
by upgrading the BIOS, changing BIOS settings, or is it a potentially
dangerous hardware error?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan
