Brett,

To the best of my knowledge, no linux distribution is vulnerable to the
Nimba virus. It tries to infect you via 4 different methods:

1. E-mail - since you can't run .exe / .com / .pif files under linux
(except under wine) you are not susceptible to them. If you have users
connecting from windows PCs however, they may be depending on what their
level of antivirus protection is. You should filter all incoming e-mail
through an antivirus program before allowing it to be sent to the user in
question.

2. Web - via several known vulnerabilities in IIS, none of which will
affect a linux system (other than filling up your log files and consuming
your bandwidth).

3. Open Shares - it'll try to infect you via open samba shares. By
default, smb shares require a valid user on the linux box before you are
allowed to connect. This will also not affect a linux system, other than
using disk space.

4. Locally - via opening an e-mail in Outlook or Outlook Express or via
opening an infected website. None of this will affect a linux system,
since .exe / .com / .pif files cannot run under linux (unless they are run
from within a wine or vmware session).
