You may very well be right. If X Windows is pre-loading the shared library, and only loads libpng2 but not version 3, then this could be the issue. Hrrmmm... wish I knew how to test this theory. Isn't there a way to use multiple versions of the same library? I am sure I read about that once! Dave -- I enjoy the time that we spend together.
