Great.. now that I know what it is, the best part would be to understand
why it is there and why it (if it really is telnets) is started/stopped
when I start/stop ypbind.. Does it listen on 992 by default ?

If yes, then I suspect nmap, finding something listening on 992 has
identified it as telnets on this basis. After restarting ypbind, it
listens on another port, and is no longer identified as telnets.

BTW, what is the point of telnet over ssl ? I mean given that ssh is
there..

Thanks,

Thomas.
