looked at this  thanks. 

additional question , I already have 8.0 set up with hdc5 =/ hdc6=swap
hdc7=home
windows is on hda1 and hdd5=/backup

will I need to reinstall so I can have a /boot partition?
or can I put say 8.2 on hdd with /backup ? ( as it's 20gig and I have
space to make a new additional /mandrake8.2 partition )

How do I make sure they are sync-ed ?
