Ok, first things first, this is not official mandrake tech support. If you bought a boxed set you should be able to call them up and ask for help. we are just a bunch of people trying to help eachother out.
second, I;ve had the same trouble with 8.1 installs. at the splash screen (the one with Tux) hit the F1 key. then type 'vgalo' and hit enter. if that doesn't work, reboot and hit F1 again and enter 'text' at the prompt. if this does or does not work, let us know.
