Oh man...I installed kde3 beta 2 from cooker (new rpms) and it works but it
does have a few issues. Man, the default look for menus is butt-ugly and
designed like it is for a blind retard (Kmenu in particular).

Some app windows also tend to be bigger than the screen and guess what? You
can no longer move the window up or down by hitting the Alt key and dragging
via the cursor. I don't know HOW to move windows around anymore except to
click and drag from the titlebar which is useless if you are trying to bring
the bottom of a window into view - and to make it worse, apparently you
cannot resize the windows either. I was trying to resize the kmail
addressbook window so I could see/use the buttons at the bottom of the window
but it is impossible. I cannot resize the window to make it fit, and I
cannot drag it up to bring the buttons into view.

I also used to have a kmail kab addressbook and just as I read in a review
last week, the new kmail cannot import it - it SAYS it can but when trying,
it cannot find it anywhere so it might as well not exist.

Kmail's look is also f*cked over and UGLY. I LIKED the old kmail fancy header
design. Know what the new fancy headers design is? Just a plain, ugly
two-color date-time and from window. No more cool KDE gear or even some
other fancy graphic. I also am not able to get the kmail Subject, Sender,
Date, etc lists to antialias even though I can get the message text to
antialias. No matter what font I select (the beautiful arial) it remains
nasty-jaggy-non-antialiased.

For the moment, I also lost sound with the new kde3. Before, it was broken
for me too (KDE 2.2.2) but I could get it to work by restarting artsd after
logging in. I've tried that in KDE 3 and there are NO error messages
anywhere but...no sound at all. The soundcard IS identified and loaded
properly, however. This one might just be a continuing f*ckup that kde/artsd
has with my IBM ThinkPad (esd likes it fine).

Well, I haven't yet found any problems beyond what I listed...Oh yeah, KDM is
gone, kapput, no more, no worky. I am stuck with the narly/nasty gdm. And
it wont start kde 3 even though it is listed in its sessions menu (what a
clunker gdm is!). I will be trying to fix it here by creating a symlink from
the new "startkde3" to "starkde" and see if that satisfies it. For now I
have to start kde3 from a CLI.

Be warned, thus I send all this.
