I wasn't using the Mandrake RPM, but one for RedHat, because of the
libpng3 problem that myself and others have experienced. The problem,
simply stated, is that there are so many apps that depend on the basic
libpng2 installed with Mandrake 8.1, that upgrading libpng to libpng3
means upgrading a whole ton of apps as well. The RedHat RPM, however, is
compiled for libpng2, so it works fine "out of the box" on my mostly
stock Mandrake 8.1 system.
