Roflmao... I love it when you swing that satire blade, JC. :) > LX, you are one sick puppy but that is why we love you.... I know, I know...I'm not demonstrating even the most marginal requisite elitism. It is repulsive, I admit. ;) There's a method to the madness, however. If in fact Linux can subsume all or most applications that run under Windows(via the Wine Secret Weapon), that negates the need for "the masses" to waste (i.e., feed the M$ black hole) at least 200$ for an inferior OS that will rape your data and put it on the M$ servers. Even the ignorant users deserve to be protected....perhaps them most of all, since they can't defend themselves anyway. That's the purpose of an easier to use installation and GUI; to help those that can't help themselves; in which case maybe they will become curious and inducted into the Linux world. Thus we out maneuver the M$ juggernaut, further weakening it's death grip on the throats of those less fortunate than us. > P.S. how goes the "owner/permission" situation? Did you resolve it? (this was two months ago, actually) It was the only way I could concieve of to properly put the permissions back in place that were originally there. I couldn't figure out how to come up with a way to get that information, since the original permissions/attributes information is somewhat locked up in the rpm's themselves. That is doable, but it's alot more time than I wanted to spend, especially since somebody's probably already tackled the problem. It was a new system anyway, so I just took the lazy way out and redid the install. I can see such a thing happening again to somebody, perhaps even me again, so I decided to seek out somebody else's fix to this problem.
