You got me curious so I did a little Google searching. I
didn't find ext3's limit, but since it's just ext2+journaling, I
suspect the limit is the same as ext2. ReiserFS has a 4GB limit.
XFS has a 2 TB (terabytes) limit. But... then in another page on
SGI's site they say, "Existing software will run with XFS without
recompilation in files up to 2GB; depending on the application,
changes may be required to support larger files".
So it appears that 'out of the box', ReiserFS handles the largest
files. I've never had to deal with this size issue, so I don't really
know, but I suspect the kernel running on a 32bit system has a lot to
do with file size limits too.
