Kick out KDE and/or Gnome but use icewm, windowmaker or xfce instead. You'll be surprised at the speed difference with hardly any functionality loss if you keep either (or both) of the 2 heavyweights installed as well.:o) Personally I prefer xfce, but that's a matter of taste;o) Good luck, Harm
