I've got 3 different motherboard/chipsets here:
Shuttle
Gigyabyte
Soyo
Of the 3, only the Shuttle MB shuts down - the other 2 wind up with a system
halted message where its safe to turn it off.
Also, on those 2 that don't shutdown - I had to go into
/etc/rc.d/init.d/
and edit the file "halt"
Specifically, the -p had to be taken out of this line:
HALTARGS="-i -d -p"
(its very near the bottom of the file) otherwise, when you shutdown, it
resulted in a scrolling (nonstop) screen full of text.
I couldn't tell you why my Shuttle works and the other 2 don't. Maybe someone
like Todd can? ;-)
