Yes a windows reinstall , even on top of the old one will distroy lilo.

but getting back to lilo is very easy!

if you made a mandrake boot disk during install , or can make one now, do so .

have it handy, and go ahead and reinstall windows. ( just do it on top - don't need to format nothin' )

once your done and windows is back up and running, simply reboot with the mandrake disk in the floppy drive
and boot from that. when it shows this boot: type linux single and hit enter.

when it boots up you will be in console mode. at the login type root and enter password.

now just type lilo and enter .
That's it !!!
now lilo is back and you can dual boot again.

If you want to know how to triple or quadruple boot mail me off list.

My Linux question: When I reinstall windowsSE on a dual boot Linux box, will that overwrite my Linux MBR, and what should I do to prevent, or correct that? Or, will I have to reinstall Mandrake 9.0 after I reinstall windows 98 to get the original lilo mbr reinstalled? Is there a simple procedure for copying the lilo config file, and then replacing the new win98 mbr with lilo? I'm not a linux expert, and am unclear on this.

Many thanks,
