I assume you have started portmap, nfslock, and nfs, right?  Are they
using hardmounts or softmounts?  Have you tried a different fs than
reiser? (just as a test)  Someone else already mentioned the duplex of
the connection.  I saw a thread just last week where if both sides
(including the switch) cannot do autosense, you have to manually set all
sides.  So if one machine is set to 100HD, then you must also manually
set the switch and the other machine to 100HD.
