Actually, that's what I already have, but mine is little more subdued. Instead 
of "username=" and "password=", I have 
"credentials=/etc/samba/auth.<server>.<username>" This keeps the 
authentication stuff private and is what MCC defaults to doing when it is 
used to set-up Samba mounts.

I wouldn't use the "noauto" option in my case because I want the shares up 
whenever a system is up. I don't mind the shares names being visible as long 
as they are not accessible to the anyone not authorized. That's why I didn't 
include it.

I thought so, myself, but MCC will change this back to "user" and balks on 
seeing it with an "s" at the end. Even if I manually edit the file and reboot 
(or reset services), it gives me no joy.
