Well, one pointed reason to upgrade from 8.2 is glibc. Everyone is moving/has
moved beyond glibc in 8.2. This means that most software being produced
today is not compatible with 8.2.

As for stability, I found 9.0 to be a pain due to instability and problems -
all of which I hoped to see fixed in 9.1. Most are and I am happy with the
stability and usefulness of 9.1.

rpmdrake...I rarely use the GUI interface. I am all for great GUIs and use
them for many things but a few things I just do not use GUIs for...rpm
installation or uninstalling is one of them. Since Redhat 5.0 I have used
and continue to use the CLI for rpms. That said, I did prefer the older
version of rpmdrake - everything was right there in one GUI. Now, you have
different GUIs depending on what you want to do. No likey.

Speed. Well, on my desktop system I don't notice any problems, but on my
laptop, bootup is slower with 9.1 vs 8.2 but then, the kernel has changed
quite a bit since those "eldritch" days of yore with 8.2. I also run more
services - and KDE gets bigger and bigger with each iteration, but I like the
latest KDE vs that of 8.2 so I guess I'll suck it up.
