TTBOMK, you need for the partition to be unmounted when you do this. Since it's your root filesystem, perhaps the best way to accomplish this is to boot to the rescue system on MDK CD #1 (by hitting F1 at the first splash screen, then typing "rescue" at the prompt), then choosing "Go to console" at the ensuing menu, and running this command from there. Be aware that the true cause of the filesystem failing those periodic checks has not yet been determined, and could well be due to one or more of any number of factors, such as bad disks, bad or poorly connected cabling, memory that is failing, or something else entirely.
