It works if you cut if off then right back on. It's only when it's been off
for a while. It kills the internet sharing and shore wall firewall also.

I haven't had any problems like what you're discussing, unfortunately. I
never turn off my switch, but I do frequently unplug and replug the
wired interface and keep going on wireless. At worst, I have to use a
sudo service network restart, but even that is pretty infrequent.
