Quick answer here. I did this on 9.1 The problems so to speak I had were. If you remove the rpm then use the installer from OOo you lose the menu entries. If you don't remove the rpm then 1. change the default install directory (during the OOo install process) frpm /usr/local/OpenOffice to /usr/lib/openoffice (what MDK uses) then you have to use drakmenu to repoint the icons in your menu to the correct launch file for example /usr/local/lib/openoffice/program/swriter instead of /usr/bin/oowriter. But the good news after this small hassle .... it runs really nice starts a world faster too. James
