Actually I've often found it to be a lot more compliant (and btw it does
pass the test if you install the LSB packages) than some of the stuff
coming from the developers. QMail is a great example, Gee lets put all
of our executables in /var and the forbid the user to change it. (read
the "license".) This is why the --prefix=   switch is present when you
do config.  --prefix=/usr works real well at keeping you from having 2
versions.  or .... even more important sometimes.  Allows you to have 2
versions so you can test before taking it live.
