I also received a cashiers check for twice what I was asking for shortly after I put my Red Devil up on the F500 Classifieds. Took the check to my bank, and they almost fell of their chairs laughing. They did check it out tho, and it was bogus.
The scam is that they send you a bogus check, which you are suppose to deposit, and send a money order to some one else who is suppose to arrange the shipping. Trouble is, your money order is made out using real dollars (yours), then later when the check is found to be no good, the bank charges you with fraud. But the best part ! The bank gave me the name of the local FBI agent that they work with. I sent him a copy of the bogus check, and e-mails that I had received. A few weeks went by and I never heard from him. So I called and was told quite blankly, "You did not loose money, so what is your problem. We have much more important things to work on" It was only recently that I think I stumbled on to the real issue, Nigeria is the second largest oil exporter to the US. Then the light came on, we don't want to make trouble for our oil rich friends !
