Is anyone running a splined shaft from Micro Belmont for autocross use? The loads in autocross are different than road racing. Autocross is frequently a drag strip start which puts LOTS of load on the small sprocket. The through the hub distance on a Honda 520 sprocket is only 5/8" The spline contact area is greater than a 1/4" sqaure key in a 1" thru hub distance of a standard Martin Sprocket - so sounds good. Now it comes down to hardness of steel. The bike sprockets are great - I think no problem here. Is the lag shaft spline the weak link? Is the lag shaft spline case hardened after machining?
