Probably true, but there still may be times when tossing out something that
people take issue with or get angry about makes them tip their hand.
Torque vs. HP aside, without knowing exactly how other factors like pipe
temp and CVT efficiency are involved, just copying a successful shift curve
(or lack of curve), another racer still might not duplicate the same results
on the track.
Or, put another way, if someone successfull said that they clutched to the
torque peak at top end and the HP peak everywhere else, it still might not
prove anything at all about HP vs torque until CVT and pipe factors were
known.
