Engine mods in DSR are pretty much open. There are rules governing valve
train configuration. but, standard "hot rod" stuff like balancing, porting,
cam timing, exhaust, induction, ignition, are open. The rules are much more
detailed that I imply but, there ARE DSR's with paddle shift (no electronics
allowed).
DSR requires either lots of brains or lots of money (which lets me out).

Are engine mods allowed in DSR?

Interested now? "If" the class desided to allow 600 bike motors, I would
sugest 1st that they be limited to the 600cc variety, and that they remain
stock. OK then, you can buy on ebay, all day long, used low mileage 600cc
bike motors for around $1000, or maybe less, with all electrical. There's
no tuning, no jets, 16,000 mile valve ajustments. You spin off the oil
filter, and change the oil every weekend, that's it. The most setup would
be a gear change. I was thinking about the expense of converting a car,
wasn't the rage some years ago to add a 4 link to these cars that weren't
otherwise equipt? The conversion, would be much more than that.
Ditto here too, I don't want to marry a car!!!

Hear, hear!
I just started in this f500 thing, so maybe my view doesn't count for
much,
but it echoes D. Gill's view. While I like the sounds of many of the
possibilities, ---as a race fan how could I not like the idea of more
power
and a gear box--- but cost in money and time are more than I can afford.
Furthermore, I don't want to get mashed up in an on track incident; it
takes
too long to heal and I already have enough health problems. I don't want
to
win at all costs. I stick to Solo 2 mainly. At fifty years of age, there
is
no future in racing for me. I just like doing it and, win or lose (more
accurately lose or lose 8-)) I have fun where I am. There has to be more
old
people like me that would get into this kind of racing.
