A shift without lift paradigm: the Mercedes SLK 32 AMG with the
automatic transmission is faster from 0-60 than their stick shift was.

Since most serious m/c engine DSR guys set them up with a "shift without
lift" circuit, I suspect there is very little time lost (you just bang
the next gear when you're ready, with your right foot planted the whole
time). I did see an engineering study that showed that an '05 Honda
CBR600rr in a FF-style chassis at 900 lbs would have a slight advantage
over a conventional FF...but that was a paper study only.

Thanks,

On parity, it might be an intersting exercise to see how CVT
inefficiency
vs. the time the gear spacing doesn't permit the MC motor to be on the
power peak works out.
