Vaseline is better than GoJo to protect the tires...
Seriously now, deflating to close the pores helps also. Out here in sunny
AZ, we get so much ozone that it also attacks the the rubber. A race tire
has no ozone protection like a street tire.

Oxidation ( aka weather checking ) does occur and can be slowed
considerably by storing your tires and wheels in large leaf bags - double
wrapped with as much air squeezed out as possible and wired tied.
I wouldn't use the Go-Jo - if it has any detergents in the ingrediants -
it'll attack the ply cords and eventually cause pressure loss.

Phil,
I certainly go along with keeping your tires inside the house during those
cold northern winters, but what does the "wrapping" do ? And what do
you
wrap them with ?
I am not a chemist, but I would guess that there is some reaction between
the rubber and the oxygen and ozone in the air, but that would require a
air-tight bag that has all the air sucked out of it. Wrapping doesn't
sound
air-tight.

Don't know about the whole Gojo thing, but I definitely keep mine
wrapped. If I have good slicks that aren't going to be used for a
while, I'll let the air out and wrap them too. Also put them in dark
garbage bags and put them in the house for the winter. If you have a
basement closet or something that's best. You want them out of the
changing temperature, warm enough to not freeze, and out of the
sunlight. All of these things will have definite effects on tires.
If you keep them stored properly and wrapped / bagged, the rubber will
stay good for quite a while.
