I agree with the "serious FF contender" and believe you should consider opening your social (or at least a few minutes of it) to the FF folks to obtain the much-needed consensus.

However, I also believe you should have a contingency approach in case your appeal is denied: I would suggest a split start with the Fords going out about a third to a half lap sooner. I realize the F5 front runners are frequently faster than many of the Fords but, the reverse is also true. The bulk of the Fords will be quicker than the bulk of the F5's. If that doesn't convince you, the weight of the car should. I've hit a Ford before and I can assure you, they are not that easy to move.

Remember, in qualifying, NO ONE can tell you when, within the session time, you must enter or exit the track and you can do so as much as you please. All I am suggesting is that whomever is at the front of the F5's wait until all of the Fords have a chance to get on the track. If you spread yourself out far enough, you will maximize your chances of getting a "clean track" or at least minimize the passing.

All the best to all of you who are competing and, for Heaven's sake, HAVE FUN!

Subject: [F500] Mixed qual sessions?

All:

The FF drivers are apparently unhappy about the combined qualifying sessions
scheduled for the Runoffs. See the thread at ApexSpeed:

One post from a serious FF contender:

<<<ok, here is the deal, I just spoke with Jerry Wannarka, who is the chief steward for the r/o, at this point someone will need file a protest with the
chief steward asking for the sessions to be changed. It will require
documentation showing support from both groups. He said we dont need 100% but a consensus. Jerry does not make the decision but passes it along to the SOM.>>>

Those that are interested might want to contact these FF guys to put
together a plan....
