We experimented with the 18" tires years ago and didn't like them. So we stuck with the 19.5" tires. Since then we have changed some of our front end adjustments and we thought we would try them again. To be honest, I don't see a difference between the 2 sizes on our car, on how it handles, so we will probably be going back to the 19.5" tires. Especially since a few of the sites we run on are very rough and the taller tires keep the bottoming out to a minimum. And keeping 2 sizes of tires is too expensive of an option for us.

Up till this year every F500 at the Nationals ran 18" tires except the 3 cars from Texas, from what I remember. Lawrence Edwards ran 19.5" tires this year (18" tires last year) and he was 2nd. The side wall is stiffer with the 18" tires, but is that better in Solo? Don't really know.

And no, we didn't make any changes to the car, like ride height, when we put on the 18" tires. It just got lower to the ground. Maybe we should have? hmmm. ;-)

Gary

Gary,
It wasnt too long ago that you guys used the high profile tires, now you
use the short ones. Any opinions as to what is what? I noticed that
about 90% of the F500 guys at Nats had the shorter tires. I bet the ride
is harsher with the low profiles ( as if we needed to be harsher)

The current champ's car is the same as it was at Nationals for the past
3
or so years, except for a new adjustment, angle, setting or 2. The only

changes that have been made were to keep it updated to the changes in
the
GCR and the Solo Rules.
