John I have the answer to how not to spend a lot of money in SV. Many years ago I almost ordered a new FV frame to use to rebuild my FV. But as I walked around NHIS I ran into a guy named Art who was about the same size as I am. I had been looking at the F440's while working with the Hoosier guy at Lime Rock and NHIS, but thought I could never fit in one. Art like many of us bigger older guys does not have all of the body work on his car so he said jump in! That was it! Looked at what it cost to build or buy a SV and bought a F440. I enjoyed the FV, but I like spending less money first!

Sure miss going to Kansas the last few years!

The funny thing is that they cannot even come up with what they want.
They, as a collective, are clueless about what will help without making
them spend a lot of money.

OK, well you've all been waiting for
this .. well maybe you haven't. In
any case the Solo Nationals are now
history for F modified and the
Formula 500s were well represented. The class included 35 drivers, with
about 23 of them being F440/500 cars. It was a close battle both days, with
Lawrence Edwards taking the first day lead only to have Gary Kramer sneak
off with the win over both days. The racing was tight, with the first 5
cars separated by only 6 tenths after 98 seconds of racing. 9 out of the the
top ten were F500 cars. Here are the trophy winners ..

1. Gary Kramer 98.016
2. Lawrence Edwards 98.282
3. Jeff
Blumenthal 98.331 (good job guy!)
4. Eric Heller 98.428
5. John
Whitling 98.683
6. Brian Ciarlei 99.334
7. Greg Piper 99.337
8.
Vern Lyle 99.577
9. John Paul Engstrom 100.140
10. Scott Nardin
100.285
