John - one important consideration that I haven't seen mentioned here is the weight balance of the car. You've met George, are you of similar size? Before you spend money on tires, get the car onto a good set of scales and make sure your balance is right - it made a world of difference on my Red Devil when we first started running it in Auto-X.
You'll also want to check the brake bias after you set the weight. Is there a proportioning valve on the car? If so, start tweaking that AFTER you balance the weight. Finally, if you're buying new tires consider setting up the car with the fat rims & tires all the way around. It dramatically improves the auto-x performance. If you have the spilt rims it's pretty easy to mix & match rim halves. -Ted >> One more thought about your tires. >> The horse track where I think >> you have been running is a pretty slippery >> site.
