Art,
I have waited awhile to respond to you as I needed to calm down after
reading your emotionally charged terms - "laughable . . . ridiculous . . . .
crying
to Stan" - these have no place in this discussion list and, yes, I know that
it is violated almost every day but I am not putting up with it.
Now, back to what I said and your reaction to it:
1. I was reacting to the 493 discontinuance announcement that had no
ADEQUATE warning - this is a serious lack of communication.
2. Although Tony (and I like Tony, personally) could not have prevented it,
he could have communicated many more times and in stronger terms long ago in
order to get this group's attention (this can be a hard thing to do). He
could have acted as a stronger liaison between the F500 group and Rotax
management about this situation in getting our group to buy more motors and in
pleading our side of the story to Rotax along with being the messenger between
the
two.
3. A prime management principle that I have always operated by is "due
diligence" and in this case it means gathering all the relevant evidence and
talking with all affected parties (F500 is the ONLY party here as there is no
other market) BEFORE making any decision. This was obviously not done so I
called it as I see it, thus no apology is due.

Now, we move on to looking at the long term approach of ensuring a good
supply of motors.

Yes, I also like Dave Gill's committee proposal.

Jim
