I believe that what Dave was referring to as static, was no load on the puck, just the plunger touching the puck. From that point to full load +, you will get about 0.60 to 0.80 inch of travel of the plunger.
If that's the case, then his setup doesn't sound too much different from mine. Mine compresses about a half to three quarter inch as the load settles on after that, I can jump on it with my 200lb carcass and almost nothing happens. I'm glad you pointed that out, Richard.
