I just was skimming the highlights. I left off the part about missing the exit Sat night and taking I90 in the dark (would have been a disaster as I would have been heading toward Erie where they had already had a major pileup earlier in the week from whiteout conditions) Finally got a Uturn at the toll booth so I could go back to I80 that I wanted to get to I480 and then I77 In the daylight with no swirling snow would never have happened. Then there was the tractor trailer and I headed right toward each other in a run around the building at the Pilot truck stop in NJ both trying to find parking. All in all my little Dodge V6 Dakota 4x2 did well.We went 1938 miles r/t and burned 130 gals of gas which except for CT(2.29) was usually costing us from 1.97 in NJ to 2.13 in PA (2.22 on the Tpke) 2.09 in Ohio and 2.17 in MI. What were you doing in Rochester..escaping Westchester?

This past weekend I left nice warm southern CT to go get a trailer and the
KBS that Pat McRee was selling me. The trip to Swanton (Toledo) wasn't too
difficult except up on the Allegheny ridges at 2200ft level where there was
snow ice and a bit of fog going over I80. Afterstaying overnite in Swanton
got the brand new Haulmark 9x12 from Zero Gravity Trailer sales (very nice
people to deal with) and ran up US 23 to Flint MI and then to Lapeer where
the car was. High winds and some blowing snow in the fields but nothing
major except the cold and the empty trailer held up well (it has the round
nose not the V). By the time we loaded everyting in the truck bed and
trailer it was in hard blowing snow. We left to go back to Toledo via MI24
to I75 through Detroit. It has been many years since I lived and drove in
upstate NY and I had forgotten just how bad it is to drive in whiteout
conditions. Fortunately snow ended by Toledo and our run over I80/90 to
Cleveland was only windy. Stayed in Independence and visited Jeff
Blumenthall. Admired his two KBS cars and discussed setups etc. Next
morning windy but sunny and no snow so had a pretty tame trip but chose to
go over the PA Tpke (world's most expensive toll road) so we could go thru
the ridges rather than over them. After stopping in Harrisburg to see my
oldest daughter who I hadnt seen since her wedding five years ago had a tame
trip up thru Jersey/NY and CT getting home to find the furnace had gone off
during a power interruption 24hrs before. Fortunately no pipes burst but it
is pretty bad when the truck is warmer than the house. I have to say that
the Haulmark trailer towed flawlessly even in wind and snow. I now have a
great respect for the people of the Lakes states who have to battle such
conditions every Winter. I also now remember why I left upstate NY affter
driving in and shovelling the "white rain" in zero and sub zero temps from
1954 until 1971. Anyway the new addition is sitting in the heated garage. Oh
yeah I guess there was some game I listened to on the radio as we were
heading back
